Abstract
En mayo de 2022, el Índice de Confianza Comercial se ubicó en 39,0%, lo que representó el mismo valor del índice frente al mes anterior. Este comportamiento obedeció a la caída de 3,4 pps en la percepción sobre la situación económica actual de las empresas del sector, que se vio compensada por un aumento de 0,7 pps en las expectativas económica para el siguiente semestre, así como por una disminución de 2,6 pps en el nivel de existencias. El Índice de Confianza Industrial se ubicó en 14,5%, aumentando 4,2 pps respecto al mes anterior. Este resultado se debe a un aumento de 9,6 pps en el volumen actual de pedidos sumado a un aumento de 7,3 pps en las expectativas de producción para el próximo trimestre. Por su parte, el nivel de existencias registró un aumento de 4,4 pps. La utilización de capacidad instalada en la industria para el mes de mayo fue de 77,7%, aumentando 2,8 pps y 8,7 pps respecto a febrero de 2022 y mayo de 2021, respectivamente. Adicionalmente, la percepción de los empresarios sobre la favorabilidad de las condiciones económicas y sociopolíticas para invertir aumentó frente a la medición anterior. Por otro lado, el sector de la construcción en general registró una mejora en la situación económica actual de las empresas y en el ritmo de construcción en comparación con el primer trimestre de 2022, mientras que las expectativas del sector para el próximo trimestre disminuyeron.
Abstract
In May 2022, the Retail Confidence Index (RCI) stood at 39.0%, which represented the same value of the index compared to the previous month. This behavior was due to the drop of 3.4 pp in business current situation of companies in the sector, which was offset by an increase of 0.7 pp in business expectations for the next 6 months, as well as by a decrease of 2.6 pp in the level of stock. The Industrial Confidence Index reached 14.5%, increasing 4.2 pp compared to the previous month. This result is due to an increase of 9.6 pp in the current volume of orders added to an increase of 7.3 pp in expected production in the next 3 months. On the other hand, the stock of finished goods at the end of this month registered an increase of 4.4 pp. The industry installed capacity utilization was 77.7%, increasing 2.8 pp and 8.7 pp compared to February 2022 and May 2021, respectively. Additionally, business perception of the favorable economic and socio-political conditions to invest increased compared to the previous measurement. On the other hand, the construction sector in general registered an improvement in the current economic situation of companies and in the pace of construction compared to the first quarter of 2022, while the expectations of the sector for the next quarter decreased.
